Service for intended parent(s)include a bio-psycho-social evaluation, psychoeducation and psychotherapy. This psychoeducational consultation is designed to assist intended parents (IPs) in addressing significant aspects, decisions, and emotions related to their journey toward family-building through third-party reproduction.
In alignment with ASRM guidelines, the topics such include selection of a donor and surrogate, considerations regarding future relationships, navigating emotions related to genetic or non-genetic connections, the process of disclosing to your child, addressing concerns related to bonding, evaluating your support network, and accessing available resources.
The primary objective is to ensure that IPs are well-informed about the experiences associated with having a child through donor conception, gaining insights into common challenges that may arise, and providing an opportunity to deliberate on potential approaches and coping strategies. This consultation emphasizes the importance of informed decision-making before proceeding further—a crucial step in obtaining informed consent.
